Industry leaders and regulators are staking out competing ideas about how AI should be managed, while companies test new hardware bets and the sector’s financial clout keeps reshaping the broader tech landscape.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg says AI labs already have strong incentives to build and release systems safely, arguing that competition, responsibility and potential liability push companies to act with caution. His comments add to the debate over whether fast-moving AI development needs more direct outside pressure or can be governed largely by the companies building it.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen says she will invite leading frontier AI labs to talks on managing artificial intelligence risks. She presents the effort as a way to build on industry work around pacing the most advanced systems, while examining how companies and policymakers can coordinate more closely on safety.

Apple is reportedly considering a return to the server market with AI-focused rack systems built around future M8 Ultra chips and Nvidia networking technology. Build a Rocket Boy’s MindsEye studio is reportedly shutting down after another round of layoffs, with remaining staff said to be departing as operations end. The closure points to ongoing pressure in the games business, where studios continue to face instability even as major publishers and developers search for sustainable production models.

Amanda Seyfried and Thomas Sadoski say they have separated after nine years of marriage. In a joint statement, the actors say they have been apart for some time and describe the decision as the right step for their family, adding that they will remain connected moving forward.
