Tech news today centers on how companies are trying to turn AI and advanced hardware into commercial advantage, even as cyber risk remains a stark counterweight. New products, funding and enterprise rollouts point to continued investment in premium devices, space data and applied AI, while a large education-sector breach underscores the stakes of handling personal information at scale.

Mathspace says a data breach affects more than one million people across Australia and New Zealand, including students, school staff and parents or guardians. The company says attackers accessed personal information connected to users and school communities, making the incident a significant hit in the education technology sector and a reminder of the vulnerability of services that hold large volumes of family and school data.

Huawei launches the Mate XT2, an updated foldable flagship that opens twice into a tablet-sized display. The release signals Huawei’s continued push to defend its premium standing in China’s smartphone market as rivals prepare new devices of their own, keeping foldables and high-end hardware at the center of competition among major consumer tech brands.

Indian space-tech company Pixxel raises $100 million in a Series C round to expand its Earth-observation satellites and analytics business. The funding is described as a record-scale investment for an Indian space-tech firm and is set to support more satellite infrastructure as well as growth in the company’s data platform and commercial services.

Cathay Pacific and Google expand trials of AI tools aimed at reducing the climate impact of aircraft contrails. The system predicts where contrails are likely to form by identifying cold, humid air and then suggests route changes such as adjusting cruising altitude, testing whether software can help airlines cut warming effects without major operational disruption.

Nuix makes its generative AI tools generally available in its Nuix Discover SaaS platform for legal review and eDiscovery work, with the rollout taking effect on September 4. The update adds document summaries, similar-document recommendations, semantic search, clustering and visualizations, reflecting a broader move to embed AI directly into specialized enterprise workflows.

Tata Consultancy Services opens an AI-native creative engineering studio in London, creating a new hub for work across the UK and Ireland. The site extends TCS Interactive, the company’s digital design and experience-led transformation business, and marks another bet that clients want AI integrated into creative, marketing and product development services.

Coleen Nolan says her relationship with Ryan Brockbank began when he contacted her through Instagram direct messages. She recounts sharing what she describes as their earliest exchanges, including flirtatious messages that developed into a romance, putting a spotlight on social media’s role in how public figures and their partners first connect.

Pakistan captain Fatima Sana is fined 10% of her match fee after the ICC rules that her send-off gesture following Shafali Verma’s dismissal breaches the Code of Conduct. The penalty stems from a Women’s Asia Cup match against India, where Sana gestured toward the pavilion during her celebration.
