Tech news is led by a fresh round of conflict over who controls critical digital infrastructure: AI models, chip supply chains and online platforms. The day also brings a reminder that cyber risk and legal pressure now sit alongside product competition as defining forces in the sector.

OpenAI says it is ending its model partnership with Cursor once SpaceX completes its planned $60 billion acquisition of Anysphere, Cursor’s parent company. OpenAI will stop supplying models to the coding platform, cut off access on 12 November 2026, and withhold its upcoming Astra model from Cursor.

Sony Music and Warner Music have sued Anthropic, accusing the AI company of large-scale copyright infringement involving their songs. The publishers allege Anthropic used protected works without permission and frame the conduct as a clear violation of intellectual property law, escalating the legal fight between AI developers and rights holders.

Chinese memory chipmaker CXMT is suing the US Department of Defense to challenge its designation as a "Chinese military company." The company is seeking removal from the Pentagon blacklist, arguing the label is unjustified and should not trigger the restrictions that come with being identified as tied to China’s military.

The Nigerian Army says it has detected an attempted unauthorised access to its official X account and is responding to the incident. The statement points to continued security risks around high-profile social media accounts, which remain vulnerable targets for intrusion attempts and misinformation threats.

Cory Bernardi has reportedly been suspended from Facebook after alleged legal threats linked to a protest involving Pauline Hanson. The suspension adds to scrutiny over how major platforms handle threats, political speech and enforcement decisions when disputes on social media spill into legal and public controversy.
