Tech news today centers on how artificial intelligence is moving from abstract software into consumer media, devices and machines people use in the real world. At the same time, companies and venues are grappling with the practical consequences, from transparency over AI-made music to privacy and piracy concerns around wearable cameras.

Unitree CEO Wang Xingxing says humanoid robots are nearing a breakthrough comparable to ChatGPT, driven by advances in the “robot brains” that let machines understand their surroundings and respond to simpler human instructions. He argues better AI software could make robots much more capable in unfamiliar environments, pushing the sector closer to wider real-world use.

Apple Music plans to add visible labels later this year for songs created using artificial intelligence. The move expands Apple’s existing transparency system for content that is materially generated with AI, and points to a broader industry effort to tell listeners more clearly when creative work has been produced or heavily shaped by automated tools.

UK cinemas are weighing restrictions or outright bans on Meta smart glasses as concerns grow that camera-equipped eyewear could be used to record films or intrude on other patrons’ privacy. Some venues and pub groups are already moving against the devices, highlighting the tension between new wearable tech and rules in shared public spaces.

Apple is still expected to release camera-equipped, AI-enabled AirPods in 2027, despite a leaked software update that appeared to include promotional footage of the rumored product. The accidental exposure has revived speculation that Apple may be developing a more advanced audio wearable that uses onboard cameras and AI features to interpret the user’s surroundings.

Samsung says it will hold a Galaxy event on August 27 to unveil the newest addition to its Galaxy S26 family. The company is not saying what the device is, but the announcement sets up another closely watched launch as major phone makers keep refreshing their flagship lineups and looking for new ways to differentiate premium hardware.

T-Hub and OKI Electric are launching a programme to help Indian deeptech startups enter the Japanese market. The effort is designed to connect companies with prospective partners and customers in Japan, offering a pathway for startups working on advanced technologies to expand internationally and navigate a market that can be difficult to access from abroad.

Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan have bought a Gothic-style castle estate in Ireland, identified as Strancally Castle in County Waterford. The purchase adds a historic European property to the couple’s holdings and has drawn attention because of Zuckerberg’s profile and the unusual scale and character of the estate.
