New cancer research points to a more fluid view of tumor biology, showing that pancreatic cancer can adapt in real time under pressure. The work helps explain why treatment often fails and suggests that the disease’s ability to keep changing may be central to its spread.
Pancreatic cancer cells can continually rework their DNA in ways that help them survive treatment and potentially become more aggressive. Researchers reach that conclusion by analyzing hundreds of thousands of cells from patients’ tumors and pairing those data with laboratory experiments that trace how these genetic changes arise, persist, and contribute to therapy resistance.
