Science news today centers on systems under pressure and in transition, from India’s push toward human spaceflight to mountain ice, clouds and wetlands reshaped by climate and conservation policy. The thread is how closely observation, testing and environmental management now tie scientific work to long-term resilience.

ISRO completes a key round of Gaganyaan testing by successfully carrying out crew module and service module separation trials for the first uncrewed mission. The sequence is a major milestone for India’s human spaceflight program, helping validate how the spacecraft’s major sections perform during flight ahead of the planned maiden launch.

Researchers find that supercooled clouds over high mountain regions such as the Tibetan Plateau and the Andes respond to climate change in ways that differ from clouds over oceans and lower terrain. Because these clouds influence snowfall, rainfall and water supply, the findings sharpen understanding of how warming may alter weather and hydrology in elevated regions.

India adds Sukhna Wetland in Chandigarh and Sauj Jheel in Uttar Pradesh to the Ramsar list of internationally important wetlands, taking the country’s total to 103 sites. The designation expands formal recognition for habitats that support biodiversity and water management, and adds to India’s growing network of protected wetland ecosystems.

Slovenia’s Alpine glaciers continue to shrink as unusually high temperatures and limited snowfall reduce the snow and ice needed to offset summer melt. The trend leaves only one glacier still visibly remaining, underscoring how rapidly small mountain glaciers can decline when warmer conditions and poor winter accumulation persist.
