Diplomacy and state restraint define the day in politics, with major powers testing limited channels on Ukraine, Iran and Lebanon without clear resolution. Elsewhere, governments confront pressure over security, industry and public life while signaling where they will and will not intervene.

Vladimir Putin meets U.S. envoys in Moscow for more than three hours to discuss possible paths toward ending the war in Ukraine. The Kremlin calls the talks highly useful and says ideas are raised on possible avenues to negotiations, but it points to no breakthrough or concrete agreement emerging from the meeting.
