Entertainment news centers on live performance and the business around it, with artists using big stages to make statements and create headline moments while local policy threatens to make going to the movies more expensive. The day also brings a notable onstage collaboration and a historic result in racing that stands out beyond its sport.

Mumbai’s civic body proposes a steep rise in the entertainment tax charged on cinema shows, increasing the levy for air-conditioned cinemas and multiplexes from ₹60 to ₹400 per show. Because the tax is assessed per screening rather than per ticket, exhibitors warn the move could push up movie prices and add pressure to theater operators.

Zach Bryan takes the stage at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough wearing a “Free Palestine” shirt during the first of his two shows there on the With Heaven on Tour. The clothing choice draws attention because the stadium is owned by Robert Kraft, making the performance a conspicuous political statement at a major venue.

Dave Grohl makes a surprise appearance with AC/DC at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey and joins the band for “Highway to Hell.” The guest spot becomes a marquee moment on AC/DC’s Power Up tour, uniting one of rock’s most recognizable frontmen with one of its most enduring live acts.

Siena Grima wins the Epsom Handicap and becomes the first apprentice in 45 years to claim the race’s Group 1 title. The victory is especially striking because it comes on her first Group 1 ride, turning the result into a landmark breakthrough for a young jockey on a major stage.
