A volatile day of headlines blurred the line between spectacle and crisis. The biggest shock came in the Gulf, where U.S. strikes on Iran followed a vessel incident in the Strait of Hormuz, and Tehran’s renewed closure of the waterway sent fresh tremors through energy markets and inflation fears worldwide. In Toronto, a joyous street festival turned tragic when gunfire near Salsa on St. Clair left two people dead and several others wounded, with police still searching for answers and possibly a suspect. In Kashmir, intense rainfall and possible cloudburst flooding swamped hotels and homes in Pahalgam, forcing evacuations but, for now, sparing lives. And in Yellowstone, nature delivered its own stark reminder of danger as a bull bison gored and tossed a tourist during rutting season. Across continents, celebration, travel and commerce were all suddenly interrupted by violence, weather and unpredictability.
